Towards the Finish Line...

Witch Joan and I went yarn shopping this morning...

When I got home, I found Zar trying to finish his rug.  All he really did was mess up the yarn stash.

I am now to the end of the middle section and ready to start the stripes on the other end.

I did get some greens for another rug for Zar...

That one can go in the Clockwork Cottage if I ever get back to working on it.

I still have a week or more of straightening the workroom.

I don't really want to talk about it!

The rest of the thread quickly disappeared.  Guess who stole it?

Yup. It was Tessie.

It seems that she wants two rugs and a lot of baskets made from this stash... I had better get back to the needle.

This could take a couple of years, at the rate that I am going...

I want to get Zar's rug finished.  I am anxious to see how the yarn by Tessie's feet will look as a rug. Very colorful, if nothing else.

Back to the needle.  See you tomorrow.

Zar is Giving Up... At least for Today...

I went into the bedroom this morning. I found Zar ensconced  in the craft cottage. MY craft cottage.

He has pretty much given into Tessie's claiming of the She Shed.

Of course I am not happy that he took over my craft cottage. There's not much I can do about it.

He brought his own chair, so who am I to complain?
Meanwhile, I do wish that Tessie would read her own sign and follow it.  It says, "Go away now.  I am a WITCH with a broom and I know how to use it!"

She hasn't done a lick of work.  In fact the pile of stuff is getting deeper as we speak...
I managed to unearth another shelf to fill.  I am over to the end of this wall now...

The dreaded closet comes next.  It is the worst...

No.  Wait. I take that back...
The worst is the jewelry shelves. It may take the rest of the year to do.

I just did it a couple of months ago, but those shelves never stay clean for long.

I have talked Walter into getting on a ladder and handing me things down from the plant shelf above the closet.  It is eight feet up and I am not allowed to climb up there... Walter says that I might fall and break something... Meaning me.

I am not arguing with him.  That's a long way up and even longer if I fall off of a ladder.

Just toss things down and I will catch them. It's safer.

Back to work.

See you tomorrow.

Not a Lot Straighter...

I am NOT going to go through everything in these two houses.  They are staying right where they are for the time being.  I know what is in them.
It took most of the morning to get the wood in order. I found some pieces that I didn't know I had and probably would have replaced them if not for the sorting.

It may not look neat, but I did get rid of some stuff and got each kind of wood together.

Ask me where something is and I can find it now, if I have it...
This bookcase is as straight as it is going to get.

I did go through things, but there wasn't much out of place or to get rid of.  No extra space gained here.
Meanwhile. Zar wants a writer's study now.  Saying that he is going to put a day bed on the right side of the room... Guess who is the day bed maker?
Tessie, on the other hand, is pushing for using stuff from her old house... I am thinking that maybe that is a good idea.

If I don't do that, she is going to start hassling me about a new home.

Anyway, I am working away on the rya rug and keeping my fingers crossed that the two of them settle things soon.  I want to get this finished and get on to something else.

Wish me luck.

See you tomorrow.

Me and the Boss...

This is the boss that I am talking about.  He has been laying on this chair all of the time that I have been cleaning in here today...

When I wanted to leave to do the blog, he refused... I had to push him off of the chair. Then I chased him out of the room.
I am making progress!  I rounded the corner this morning.  All of the things in that corner cabinet have been gone through, sorted and labeled.

I have been finding all kinds of things that I didn't know I had. Lots of unfinished furniture that needs finishing.  Lots of things that I didn't even know that I had!

George moved up a shelf.  Now he looks down on me, instead of staring me directly in the eye.

I sorted and refolded all of the fabric in the two shelves.  Messy!

See that almost empty shelf next to the wood? I gained a shelf! So I am making progress.  A whole empty shelf!
I am stalling now.  My next job is the wood... I have to go through all of that and sort sizes, kinds and lengths.  It is a mess.

I am finding some things that I am going to take to Wednesday Witches and see if anybody wants them.

I don't think that there is anything that they will be fighting over, but if they want any of it, they are welcome to it.
The Terrible Two are still fighting over the second She/He Shed.

To make matters worse, I emptied Tessie's Townhouse.  One of the Witches is taking it off of my hands.  It just isn't my style.  Good riddance.  Anyway, the Terrible Two dragged some of the furniture into the bedroom and are now fighting over what would fit nicely in the Shed and who is going to own it.

I am avoiding that area of the house.  It's easier that way.  Let them settle it.  I am just a bystander.

Back to the rya rug.  See you tomorrow.

The Right Thing to Do

I told you that going through all of the hidden places was a good thing to do.

After cleaning out the desk drawers, I have finally found both the lamp and the authentication that goes with it!
Here it is.  This is probably the oldest thing that I own.  I was worried that I had lost the poor bedraggled slip of paper that tells what it is.  It was in the top drawer left hand side and I left the lamp out where I could find it, the last time I did some cleaning...

The little card that goes with it looks older than the lamp.  It has been through the wars.
I did do a bit of mini-ing while I was cleaning.  I found some scraps of the ceiling tile and decided to start a form for a day bed... For whomever wins the war.

Yes, they are still arguing. No winner yet...
I have the new rya rug about half finished.  If you look real close, just to the left of the toothbrush head there is a little, lone knot of thread.  That is where I will start repeating the stripes that were at the start.

I am getting better at this all the time.  Practice. Practice. Practice.

I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon at 2:00 PM.   I will probably be able to get a few more rows done whilst waiting for the doctor to call me in. I am getting really close to not having to go back to doctors anymore.  Just a couple more steps and I will be done. I can't wait!

Back to work.  See you tomorrow.

Strange Invaders...

I did not plant these!!! They came up whilst the rain was coming down. That was yesterday.  This morning they were open and in full bloom as real live toadstools. I don't know what kind they are and I don't think that I want to know.  They looked evil.  I very carefully took them out and put them in the garbage can.  No.  I did not touch them!
This morning I opened the door to the workroom and as I did, I thought about how long I have gone without going through everything in there.

There surely has to be things that I really don't need and things that just plain aren't useful.

I have decided this time that I have to go through all of the boxes, drawers, baskets and houses and get rid of things that are of no use to me any longer.  There would be so much more room in there if I did that...
So... I am doing just that.  I started with this corner this afternoon and opened all of the boxes and baskets, etc... etc... etc....

I threw out glue bottles that have been dried up for years.

Oops. I just noticed the 1/2" house.  I forgot to go look in there.  I know that it has furniture in it.  Not all good furniture. OK.  That's where I go when I get done here.  That needs fixing!

And what is Tessie doing?

She is trying to convince me that she really needs another she shed!

So far it's not working... She dug out an old chase lounge and told me that it would look "dandy" in there...

Nope. I am not building a She Shed for an old piece of furniture that should go in the trash bin.

Zar is winning so far.  I like the rug that he is having me make.  That gets a higher ranking than an old beat up chair.

I am going to go and work on the rug some more... I haven't done anything on it today. It's about time.

See  you tomorrow.

Our Own Private Storm Cloud!

Not everyone can say that they had their own private storm cloud today... We did!

It started raining a little after noon and just now I took a photo.

Our back yard looks like a beach... Or maybe a swamp...

Walter looked on the radar and Rita Ranch, the area where we, live was the ONLY place in the Tucson area that was getting any rain at all! It was just a little dot over our area. I ignored it and kept working.

I have the feeling that Zar is winning the She Shed, He shed, war... He has been trying out furniture for size and Tessie just stands outside wondering what happened.

I put a coat of stucco on the inside and out this morning... I was over at Witch Joan's the other day and saw what she did to her She Shed.  She put a coat of paint mixed with gesso rather than doing a coat of gesso and then painting.  I was impressed and decided to try it. It works and saves a lot of time! Thanks, Joan!!!

I am waiting for it to dry, so that I can keep going.  I'm on a roll!
Zar keeps eyeing the latest rug.  He seems to think that it would go better in a He Shed than in Tessie's She shed.

I found some more colors and Tessie is eyeing some of them for a new rug for herself.  Maybe that will prevent a knock down, drag out fight.

Zar can have this one and Tessie can be picking out colors for the next one.

I am only about a third of the way done with this one.  These are going to keep me busy when I don't have anything else to do.

I am going back to work on something now... I am not sure what. The Terrible Two are yelling at each other again.  I guess I should go break it up... But if I don't it will be a bit noisy, but they will be out of my hair for the rest of the day.

See you tomorrow.
